A **footnote** is a brief explanatory note or reference that appears at the **bottom of the page**, used to provide:

  * Additional information
  * Clarification
  * Citations or references

Footnotes allow the author to include important but **non-essential** content without interrupting the main flow of the text.

This will render as a small numbered link in the body, and the full note will appear at the bottom of the page.

Use `((double parentheses))` syntax for footnotes:

  * Inline example:
    `The patient showed complete recovery.((Follow-up was confirmed after 6 months.))`

  * Multiple footnotes are numbered automatically:
    `First fact.((Footnote 1)) Second fact.((Footnote 2))`
