Los [[ependimoma anaplasico|ependimomas anaplásicos]] corticales son lesiones extremadamente raras conociéndose solo 7 casos antes del 2011.

Se asocia con un historial de convulsiones.

Su relación con el [[glioma_angiocentrico|glioma angiocéntrico]] descrito recientemente, se sigue debatiendo (Van Gompel y col., 2011).

Rara vez, el ependimoma cortical puede presentarse como una lesión en alas de mariposa y debe ser considerada en el diagnóstico diferencial de estas lesiones en los adultos (Ng y col., 2012).
