Value-based care represents the relationship between the incremental gain in outcome for patients and [[cost efficiency]]. It is achieved by identifying outcomes that are important to patients, codesigning solutions using [[multidisciplinary]] teams, measuring both outcomes and costs to drive further improvements, and developing partnerships across the [[health system]] ((Luoma AMV, Flexman AM. Value-based Care and Quality Improvement in Perioperative Neuroscience. J Neurosurg Anesthesiol. 2022 Aug 2. doi: 10.1097/ANA.0000000000000864. Epub ahead of print. PMID: 35917131.)). ---- [[Mobile technology]] has greatly contributed to time management and cost reduction for healthcare at every level including hospital visits to individual appointments with doctors, hence the convenience. With advancements in mobile technologies and the growing number of mobile users, newer opportunities have opened up for the use of mobiles for patient care. Emerging information and communication technologies with the help of the Internet of Things (IoT) have been instrumental in integrating different domains of the health sector with mobile technology. Thus, the technology may have the potential to become powerful medical tools to support the health sector at all levels of care ((Sharma S, Kumari B, Ali A, Yadav RK, Sharma AK, Sharma KK, Hajela K, Singh GK. Mobile technology: A tool for healthcare and a boon in pandemic. J Family Med Prim Care. 2022 Jan;11(1):37-43. doi: 10.4103/jfmpc.jfmpc_1114_21. Epub 2022 Jan 31. PMID: 35309626; PMCID: PMC8930125.)). ---- Although [[cost reduction]] increases for [[implant]]s in surgery when prices are known, this appears to have little or no effect on the overall [[cost]]s of [[care]]. [[Length of stay]] and [[operating room time]] have greater effects on global [[cost]]s. Future efforts to encourage efficient cost savings should focus on practice patterns/pathways for similar conditions rather than limiting the use of certain implants ((Glennie RA, Barry SP, Alant J, Christie S, Oxner WM. Will cost transparency in the operating theatre cause surgeons to change their practice? J Clin Neurosci. 2019 Feb;60:1-6. doi: 10.1016/j.jocn.2018.09.024. Epub 2018 Oct 26. PMID: 30626523.)). cost_reduction.txt Last modified: 2024/06/07 02:51by 127.0.0.1
