Este abordaje es utilizado por muchos centros de cirugía de epilepsia, y fue popularizado por el Dr. André Olivier en el Instituto Neurológico de Montreal (Wheatley, 2008).

Permite una trayectoria adecuada para el trígono evitando defectos postoperatorios del campo visual (Choi y col., 2011).
